MY PRECOCIOUS CHILD

My child, at two, you sang

the names

of the apostles with me.

It was quite an accomplishment

for a child of two

To wrap your tiny tongue around

those names.

It was more than

some adults ventured to do!

More than once we smiled with pride

as you sang

and quoted on ---

“Jesus called them

one by one –

Peter, Andrew, James,

and - - - *Daddy!”

(*Well, you knew you weren’t

supposed to call him John!)
